XX CLOSED SS1 2EN Foresters, Southend
Re: XX CLOSED SS1 2EN Foresters, Southend
With Foresters now closed, the antis can't blame the affray on the pub. Though, knowing them, they will overlook the fact that it has closed and attribute the violence to it anyway.

The Foresters was indeed demolished over the summer.
demolition in progress
Currently it is unclear whether the redevelopment project will go ahead as intended.

Images of dancers and regulars at the Foresters from a photography project documenting its last days in 2019.
Inside one of the oldest adult entertainment pubs in the UK
Some fine photos there. As someone who went there occasionally quite a few of the people in the photos look familiar too.

Southend: ‘Marine Plaza site is blight on seafront’
The report says that "Marine Plaza was granted planning permission in 2015 but while buildings on the site [including Foresters] have been demolished, not a brick has been laid by developers the Inner London Group."
I like the comment under the article from Keyboard Karen which says "Another mess by Southend council. The cultural icon that was the Foresters was lost for nothing. That was people's livelihoods."

With the sun shining I took a trip into Southend today. This site is still boarded up with no sign that any building work is going to start soon.
