Re: SEV APPLICATION - LL11 1TA Midnight Lounge, Wrexham
Application refused - the 'antis' managed to get 108 signatures on their petitions, as opposed to just one letter of support for the club, but the really decisive factor was the limit of 2 SEVs which Wrexham Council imposed in 2009:
Wrexham lap dancing bar plan refused by council (Daily Post, 27/07/15)
And the wording of the letter of support?
“The average club causes less issues than a restaurant or nightclub. Most objections are based on moral grounds hidden behind belief systems.”
Sound familar?

Well, well, well - the Midlnight Lounge is opening as a burlesque bar, with full striptease 11 times a year, courtesy of TENS:

Wrexham nightclub's second bid for lap dancing venue
Not sure if the venue is/was Midnight Lounge under a new name?

Yes, Club XS appears to be the same venue rebranded.

And turned down because of fears that it would create a no go zone for women. Which is strange given Phil Hubbard's research which showed most people didn't recognise strip clubs unless the signage was overt. People would walk past venues without even knowing it. But once again don't let facts stand between councillors and a moral outrage.
