"A total of 28 letters of objections and a petition with 43 signatories was received during the consultation period as well as an email from South Wales police." When I clicked on "Should the application be granted", votes were running two against one in favour. The police didn't seem concerned about the dancing, more with the sort of precautions to be adopted by any night-time venue.

Application rejected.

“The applicant was not able to provide evidence and was therefore unable to demonstrate that the granting of a SEV of this type would not lead to the locality becoming a no go area for families, church goers, concert goers and women generally.”

Giving permission for a pole-dancing club would also be in conflict with the need to enhance and protect historic buildings.

A version of the, "Prove that God DOESN'T exist!" logical fallacy. :?

And bear in mind that Merthyr used to be notoriously 'dry' on a Sunday...
