"Schoolgirls" poster banned

The photo must be a still from the recent St Trinians film (which I haven't seen).

The

Bristol Post

shows the offending poster.

My first reaction was that it was crass of the club to promote such a theme, but from my very limited knowledge of St Trinians I think that it's usually been accepted that the schoolgirls are acted by older women. There was even a "Midsummers Murders" episode a few years back set in a girl's school where the pupils wore uniforms reminiscent of St Trinians.

I see that rent-a-quote Roz Hardie has jumped on the bandwagon:

Bristol strip club warned over schoolgirl adverts (BBC News website, 13/04/15)

Following this 'logic', does that mean that 'School Disco' nights at ordinary nightclubs should also be banned?

I think the schoogirl nights were brought up by an objector when UT had their hearing for the renewal of their SEV licence. The licence was renewed with the promotion of schoolgirl nights being a no-no for the future.

https://twitter.com/bristolfawcett were the people giving me an update during the meeting of goings-on. They also provided details of T3 being given their SEV licence too.

Ah yes, the conspicuously cosy relationships between the Fawcett Society, Object Now and various 'local' feminists groups... :x

Still, raising the issue of a St Trinian's Night demonstrates that they're clutching at straws, and resorting to making ridiculous statements about male sexuality in the process.

Licence renewed

despite familiar squawks from the usual suspects, with some welcome rebuttals from the dancers who point out that they are feminists too.

A similar article in the

Daily Telegraph

(which may soon disappear behind a paywall).

Found out about the licence renewal from Bristol Fawcett Society via Twitter, usually their tweets are the only way to find out about this sort of thing.

'[A] spokeswoman for Bristol Fawcett told January 17's meeting: “It was not nice to receive factually inaccurate social media messages."'

Ooh, the irony!

Given over the years the e-mails, and comments I have got from feminists especially on local papers where I challenged the thought process. My badge of honour though was being banned from Mumsnet 3 times because I actually quoted facts.

"Women’s rights campaigners say they have received online abuse after objecting to a Bristol lap-dancing club, councillors heard.

Groups including Bristol Fawcett, which voiced its opposition to Urban Tiger’s sex entertainment licence renewal on January 16, revealed at a hearing the following day they had been victims of Twitter trolls"

You'll note that there's no definition of either 'abuse' or 'trolls' here...just sayin'!

Bleating like billy goats possibly? I am going to have to practice jumping from under a bridge. I do find it amazing how often they play a victim card while resorting to dirty trick of their own. They certainly don't want to discuss facts so anyone who brings up a fact is a troll I guess.

Seriously, the sex-positive Millicent Fawcett must be spinning in her grave at the bluestocking activism being carried out in her name!

From the Bristol Live article linked to above by pleasure_seeker:

'“In the last two to three years it came down to a more ideological position – that the council was normalising women taking their clothes off, but Parliament has legislated on striptease and said it’s a lawful activity, and one aspect of feminism is women should have the right to choose what they do with their own bodies,” [Urban Tiger's barrister Philip Kolvin KC] said. “So it seems these arguments have run their course and dried up*.

'“The council has spoken and has made provision for two premises in Bristol city centre, and this year nobody has considered lodging an objection to this properly run Bristol business with its Bristolian female directors.” The authority’s neighbourhood enforcement team had found no breaches of the venue’s licensing conditions and there were no comments from the chief constable, members heard.'

*(emphasis in bold is mine).
