naughtiness alleged

Some of the comments appended to the article are a bit better than is usual in cases like this, eg "Efforts to contact anyone at Spearmint Rhino were unsuccessful."

"So you could not get in touch."

"[Rev Dr Tim Matthews, of St Swithun’s Church on the East Cliff] also objected on moral grounds stating: 'In my pastoral work I constantly deal with the damage caused when impressionable people are lured away from their committed relationship partners.'”

I do hope that the local authority has observed its legal obligation to ignore this particular objection.

Bournemouth's population 2011: 187,503.
Objections: 15

and no doubt some of these were from the usual out-of-town feminists. (I wonder what they make of the almost complete female nudity to be seen on the beaches in the summer?)

Some people just want to take responsibility for their own actions, do they?

Stag party member claims he was ‘grossly exploited’ by lap dancing club after spending third of his salary in single evening (The Independent, 11/11/14)

From the above article:

'The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, spent more than £7,500 at the Spearmint Rhino strip club in August 2013 and is claiming that staff “grossly exploited a person in a vulnerable position.”

Arriving at the venue, the man – who lives in Northern Ireland – admits that he was already intoxicated but claims that he ended up alone in a booth after staff plied him with more alcohol until he was unaware of his actions.'

And here's a very telling quote from later in the article:

'Councillor David Smith, who is supporting the man’s formal objections to the venue’s license [sic] renewal, said: “I was shocked and concerned to hear of the experience this man had in Spearmint Rhino.

“There are very strict rules governing the way Spearmint Rhino and other sexual entertainment venues can operate and it is imperative these are adhered to.”

A spokesperson for Spearmint Rhino said: "The allegation goes back to the summer of 2013. The matter is now being raised as an objection to the renewal of the SEV licence which has already been renewed once since that date."'

That story is summed up as:- Man goes into spearmint rhino, drunk off his face, waves three credit cards around, gets a big bill.

Not sure which bit of this is shocking or even news really.

The part about it being used as the basis of an objection to the SEV licence being renewed.

True I'm just not sure why The Independent felt it worth the time to print. The sev licence bit seemed like a sideline story.

On the contrary, the SEV licence issue is the meat on the bones of this story!

WOOHOO - a whopping 15 objections!

Will Object Now activists start chanting, "Ex-ploi-tat-ion of cus-tom-ers!", in the hope of gaining some leverage, instead of shouting, "RAPISTS!!!"?

Customer spends £7.5K, gets refund

Sets a precedent. Wonder if I can sue the Sports Bar for some of the money I spent there a few years ago?

This venue became Club Temptation about a year ago.

Licence was renewed in the summer.
